Insulator - GCSE Physics Definition

An insulator is a material that does not easily allow the flow of electric current or heat. Insulators are typically used to protect us from electric shocks, as they prevent the free movement of electric charges. Common examples include rubber, plastic, and glass, all of which are often used to coat or separate electrical wires and components. In the context of heat, insulating materials like wool or foam help to reduce energy transfer, keeping heat in or out as needed.
