Magnetic materials are types of substances that can be attracted to magnets or can become magnets themselves when subjected to a magnetic field. The most common magnetic materials are metals like iron, nickel, and cobalt. These materials have tiny regions called magnetic domains, which are like small magnets inside them. When these domains line up in the same direction, the material becomes magnetised and can attract other magnetic items. Magnetic materials are important in everyday life as they are used in many devices, such as compasses, electric motors, and the speakers in your headphones.
