Gender - GCSE Psychology Definition

Gender refers to the roles, behaviours, activities, and attributes that a society considers appropriate for men, women, and other gender identities. It is different from biological sex, which is based on physical characteristics. Gender is more about how people identify themselves and how they express this through clothing, behaviour, and personal appearance.

In psychology, studying gender helps us understand how these roles and expectations affect how people think, feel, and behave. It also explores how differences and similarities in gender can impact various aspects of life, from work and education to relationships and mental health.
