Range - GCSE Psychology Definition

In GCSE Psychology, the term 'range' refers to a simple way of measuring how spread out a set of numbers is. To find the range, you take the biggest value in your data and subtract the smallest value from it. This gives you an idea of the difference between the highest and lowest numbers in your data set. For example, if you have test scores of 5, 9, and 12, the range would be 12 minus 5, which equals 7. The range helps to show how much variation there is in the data, but it doesn't provide detailed information about all the numbers in the data set.
