Status - GCSE Psychology Definition

In GCSE Psychology, status refers to the importance or social standing a person holds within a group. It is how others in the group view and treat someone based on their role or position. For example, the managing director of a company will have a higher status than those who work on the factory floor. Status can affect how individuals are respected, listened to, and should mean that they are able to influence others. Status may be based on someone's age, experience, or achievements, and can impact group dynamics and relationships.
