Extremism refers to holding strong, often radical beliefs or ideologies that are significantly different from the accepted norms of society. These beliefs are sometimes expressed through the desire to impose them others. In the context of GCSE Religious Studies, extremism can be seen where individuals or groups may pursue their goals through actions or speech that reject tolerance, diversity, and peaceful coexistence. Understanding extremism involves exploring how and why certain individuals or communities might adopt extreme views, the impact these views can have on societies, and the importance of promoting dialogue, understanding, and respect among different belief systems to prevent conflict.
