Official Statistics - GCSE Sociology Definition

Official Statistics are numbers and data collected and published by the government or other official organisations. They provide important information about a range of topics like the number of people living in the country, crime rates, or how many students pass exams each year. These statistics are used to understand society better, make decisions, and create rules or policies. They are considered reliable because they are collected in a consistent way and are used by sociologists to study patterns and trends in different areas of society.
