Reconstituted Family - GCSE Sociology Definition

A reconstituted family, also known as a blended family or step family, is a family formed when one or both parents bring children from previous relationships into a new partnership. This happens after one or both partners have separated, divorced, or lost a spouse. In a reconstituted family, the children may live with their biological parent and a step-parent, and they might also have step-siblings if the step-parent has children from their previous relationship. This type of family can bring new experiences and relationships for everyone involved, and it is a common family structure in modern society.
