Cerebellum - GCSE Biology Definition

The cerebellum is a part of the brain located at the back of your head, just beneath the larger part called the cerebrum. It is essential for controlling balance, coordination, and movement. This means it helps you walk smoothly and stay upright. The cerebellum also plays a role in helping you learn new physical skills, like riding a bike or playing a musical instrument. Even though it is small compared to the rest of the brain, the cerebellum has a big job in making sure your movements are precise and well-coordinated.
