Demographic - GCSE Biology Definition

In GCSE Biology, the term 'demographic' refers to the study of the human population, looking at different characteristics, like age, gender, and how many people live in an area. Demographics help scientists and researchers understand changes in populations over time, such as how a population grows, shrinks, or changes in composition. This information is useful for planning resources, such as schools and hospitals, and for understanding how human populations interact with the environment. By studying demographics, we can also see patterns, such as where most young people live or how life expectancy varies in different regions.
