Probability - GCSE Biology Definition

Probability, in the context of GCSE Biology, refers to the chance or likelihood of a particular event or outcome occurring. For example, in genetics, probability is used to predict the likelihood of inheriting specific traits, such as eye colour or blood type. It works similarly to flipping a coin—there might be a 50% chance of inheriting a certain allele from one parent. Probability helps students understand and predict patterns of inheritance by using tools like Punnett square diagrams, making it easier to interpret genetic crosses and outcomes.
