Producers - GCSE Biology Definition

In GCSE Biology, producers are organisms, usually green plants or algae, that make their own food using sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water through the process of photosynthesis. They are found at the start of a food chain and provide energy for all other organisms. Producers are essential because they convert light energy into chemical energy, which is then transferred through the ecosystem when other organisms consume them. This energy flow supports ecosystems and helps to sustain life on Earth.
