Aspirin is a medicine used to relieve pain, reduce swelling, and lower fever. It is also used in small doses to help prevent blood clots, reducing the risk of heart attacks and strokes. In GCSE Biology, aspirin is studied as an example of how medicines can treat symptoms and help prevent disease.
