When are the IGCSE exam resit dates 2026?

After receiving your IGCSE results in August, you may decide that you’d like to resit one or more of your exams. Your next opportunity to retake your exams will be the November 2026 exam series.

IGCSE Maths resit dates 2026

If things don’t go to plan and you don’t achieve the grade you were hoping for in IGCSE Maths, try not to panic. 

In the June 2024 Cambridge IGCSE Maths exam series, (opens in a new tab)71% of candidates achieved a grade C (opens in a new tab) or higher, which is considered a passing grade. This means 29% of students did not achieve a pass, with thousands going on to resit their exams.

What is the deadline for November IGCSE resits?

If you're planning to retake your IGCSE exams in November 2026, the entry deadline is typically in mid-September. 

What is the deadline for summer IGCSE resits?

If you miss the November entry deadline and choose to take your IGCSE resits next summer, you’ll usually have to register by mid-February or early March 2026.

Deadlines vary depending on the exam board, so confirm in advance with your school or college. 

When is IGCSE resit results day 2026?

If you’re taking your IGCSE resits this summer, you’ll get your results on IGCSE results day. If your exam board is CIE, results day falls on Wednesday 19th August 2026.

For Edexcel or Oxford AQA students, IGCSE results day is on Thursday 20th August 2026.

If you’re taking your IGCSE resits in November 2026, you can expect to get your results in January 2027. Exam boards haven’t yet announced the exact dates.

How many times can I resit IGCSE exams?

You can resit your IGCSE exams as many times as you like, there’s no formal limit. That said, you’ll have to pay a fee each time you resit (which can be upwards of £200). We’d advise really honing your revision strategy to try to improve your results the second time around. 

What happens if I do worse in an IGCSE resit?

Thankfully, resitting your IGCSE exams doesn’t cancel out the first results you achieved. This means if you get a worse grade when resitting, your higher initial grade still stands. 

Do you have to pay to resit an IGCSE?

Yes. Unlike GCSE Maths and English resits, which can be funded for students under 19 in the UK, IGCSE resits usually incur exam fees regardless of the subject.
