French meals are different to English meals.

  • Breakfast is a light meal, e.g. pastries and coffee

  • Lunch is eaten around 12:00pm - 2:00pm, and lots of shops close for their lunch break. As it is the main meal of the day, it is often three courses long

  • A snack at 4:00pm is a very important part of the day - particularly for children after school, but also for many adults

  • Dinner is eaten around 8:00pm

  • Many meals are accompanied by bread - the baguette is considered an important part of French culture, and there are even laws regarding how it must be made
