Future Plans: Work: Grammar (AQA GCSE Spanish): Revision Note
Exam code: 8692
There are two future tenses in Spanish - the near future (going to) and the inflectional future (will). Let's look at the inflectional future in more detail.
Inflectional future
Use the inflectional future tense to express ‘will’ when talking about future plans
Use the infinitive verb (e.g. trabajar) and add the following endings:
Spanish | English |
trabajaré | I will work |
trabajarás | you will work (informal) |
trabajará | he / she will work |
Four key verbs add these endings to an irregular stem, rather than to the infinitive:
infinitive | stem | verb forms |
tener | tendr- | tendré, tendrás, tendrá |
hacer | har- | haré, harás, hará |
poder | podr- | podré, podrás, podrá |
poner | pondr- | pondré, pondrás, pondrá |
Hay means 'there' is or 'there are' - its inflecitonal future form is habrá (there will be)

infinitive | stem |
decir | dir- |
saber | sabr- |
