To talk about your hobbies, you need to be able to:

  • ask about what people do in their free time

  • say what you do and don’t do in your free time and why

  • add more detail with a negative to say what you don’t do

  • Use high-frequency irregular verbs correctly

  • You can combine these nouns with verbs that you already know:

    • Toco un instrumento en el colegio

    • Soy miembro de un club de lectura

      I’m a member of a reading club

    • Descanso con mi familia

      I relax with my family

    • Escribo artículos sobre la moda

      I write articles about fashion

    • Hago dibujos de paisajes bonitos

      I draw beautiful landscapes

Examiner Tips and Tricks

It is important to learn key words for the exam, but you can also add your own personal vocabulary so you can express yourself better.

If you play an instrument that you might want to talk about, look it up and note down the Spanish. When talking about musical instruments, use the verb tocar rather than jugar.

  • In Spain, people often join peñas

  • These are social clubs for fans of different hobbies, sports, or cultural events

  • Some peñas are large fan clubs, others are smaller groups of friends with a shared interest
