What is examined in the CIE IGCSE Business Paper 1?
This paper is made up of four questions requiring a mixture of short
answers and structured data responses
Each question starts with a short case study, to which you should refer when answer the question parts that follow
The paper's duration is 90 minutes
The total number of marks available is 80, representing 50% of the qualification
You must answer all questions
Structure of the Paper
In each of the four questions:
Parts a and b are worth 2 marks
You are usually required to either
Define a key term
Carry out a simple calculation
State or identify two factors, features, ways or impacts

Part c is worth 4 marks
You are usually required to either
Outline two factors
Carry out a multi-stage calculation
State or identify four factors, factors, features, ways or impacts

Part d is an 'explain' question worth 6 marks
You are required to explain either
Two advantages and two disadvantages of a given issue
Two reasons, ways or impacts of a given issue

You are required to either
Make a judgement about the significance of two or more factors
Make a recommendation about a suitable course of action
