What is examined in the CIE IGCSE Business Paper 2?

  • This paper is made up of four questions based on a case study, provided as an insert

  • The case study provides information about a business as well as a selection of data, such as market research, economic indicators or financial performance

  • You should refer to this case study material in all of your answers

  • The paper's duration is 90 minutes

  • The total number of marks available is 80, representing 50% of the qualification

  • You must answer all questions

Structure of the Paper

In each of the four questions:

  • Part a is worth 8 marks

    • You are usually required to either

      • Explain two advantages and two disadvantages of a given issue

      • Explain four points related to a particular issue

      • Carry out a multi-part calculation and then outline two factors

  • Part b is worth 12 marks

    • You are usually required to

      • Consider a range of factors and make a justified recommendation

      • Weigh up advantages and disadvantages and make a justified choice

      • Consider a business's position (financial, competitive etc) and make an overall judgement

      • Consider a range of impacts and make a judgement about the most significant
