Is Save My Exams a Safe Website? Payments & Data Explained

Key Takeaways

  • Payments run through Stripe, which is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. Your card number never reaches a Save My Exams server.

  • The entire site uses HTTPS, so everything you do on it is encrypted.

  • Your password is never stored in plain text. You can sign in with Google instead and skip having one with us at all.

  • We keep signup data to a minimum, marketing emails are opt-in, and third-party trackers stay blocked until you agree to them.

Is Save My Exams a real website?

Save My Exams is a real company. Our resources are written by Curriculum Experts, qualified teachers and examiners who've taught and marked the courses you're studying.

One thing to be aware of is that you may see two addresses, savemyexams.com (opens in a new tab) and savemyexams.co.uk (opens in a new tab). Both are ours, and neither is a copycat site.

This article sticks to security. If you're asking whether the content itself is any good, we've answered that elsewhere:

Are my card details safe on Save My Exams?

Your card details are safe because Save My Exams never sees them. When you pay, the card fields you type into are hosted by Stripe, our payment processor. Your card number travels from your browser straight to Stripe.

Here's what that means in practice:

  • Your card number is never stored on, or even passed through, a Save My Exams server.

  • Stripe is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1 (opens in a new tab), the strictest certification available in the payments industry.

  • When Stripe tells us a payment has gone through, we verify that it has come from Stripe and not someone pretending to be Stripe.

Stripe handles payments for millions of businesses worldwide, so your card is being looked after by specialists.

Is my connection to Save My Exams encrypted?

Every page on Save My Exams is served over HTTPS, which encrypts everything travelling between your device and us. By this, we mean that anyone intercepting your connection, on school Wi-Fi or anywhere else, sees scrambled data rather than what you typed.

Your browser is also told to only ever connect to Save My Exams securely. If anything tries to push you onto an unencrypted connection to the site, your browser refuses instead of going along with it.

On top of that, our traffic passes through a protective edge network – a security layer that filters out harmful traffic. It absorbs denial-of-service attacks, which are designed to overload the site, and filters malicious traffic before it reaches us.

Is my Save My Exams account secure?

Your account is protected by several layers. Importantly, nobody at Save My Exams can see your password.

  • Passwords are never stored in plain text. They're protected using industry-standard security techniques, so even we can't read them.

  • You can sign in with Google and skip having a Save My Exams password entirely.

  • We have protections that slow down automated password-guessing attacks.

  • If a session ever needs shutting down, we can revoke access to it immediately.

The one part we can't do for you is creating your password itself. We recommend that you combine four or more random words with numbers and symbols to make a long, unique password of at least 12 characters.

What personal data does Save My Exams collect?

Save My Exams collects the minimum personal data needed to give you an account and run the service. We're a revision platform, so we don't need to know much about you for you to start revising.

Three things worth knowing:

  • Signup data is kept deliberately small. We ask for what the service needs, not for everything we could possibly gather.

  • Marketing emails are opt-in. We won't email you about offers unless you've asked us to.

  • Third-party trackers are blocked until you give consent through our cookie banner. This means that advertising and social-media trackers – Gogle, YouTube, TikTok, Meta – don’t load until you say yes.

Can I cancel my Save My Exams subscription?

Yes, you can cancel at any time from your account settings. There's no phone call to make and no email you have to send before it takes effect.

Our guide on how to cancel your Save My Exams subscription walks through the steps and explains what happens to your access afterwards.
