Revision Notes and Content Quality
Save My Exams features clear, comprehensive and exam board-aligned content. Using simple definitions, diagrams and worked examples, revision notes break down lengthy specifications into student-friendly topics. Unlike many textbooks and other revision resources, you’ll only revise content you could be examined on. You can use revision notes alongside flashcards, exam-style questions and past papers.
You can create your own notes on Revise Right by giving a prompt to AI (such as ‘create a one-page OCR GCSE Biology revision sheet’). Alternatively, pre-made notes organised by topic can be found in the Official Vault. For example, there are notes on different AQA GCSE English Literature texts, such as Macbeth and Frankenstein.
Revise Right notes include different headings and integrated exam practice. You can read a section, answer a short question, and check your response against the mark scheme. You’ll also find exam tips and common mistakes.
All Save My Exams content is written and checked by subject specialists. Revise Right, however, has largely AI-generated content that is checked automatically and by the founder, Angela Borowski. Students and teachers can also report any issues or feedback with Revise Right’s content.
I compared the platforms’ notes on Scrooge’s character in A Christmas Carol. Both did well to link Scrooge’s character to key themes, such as transformation and redemption. However, I found Revise Right’s notes less concise and more obviously AI-generated. For instance, Revise Right’s page begins with the following:
“Scrooge is one of the most recognisable characters in English literature — but here is the question worth sitting with: is he a villain, a victim, or a warning?”
This is a lengthy opening that asks what seems like a profound question. However, it encourages a simplistic reading of Scrooge; he’s a villain, victim and warning combined, not either/or. More nuanced character analysis is more likely to secure a Grade 9, which is what I selected as my target grade for this course.
By contrast, Save My Exams’ revision note starts with this:
“Scrooge’s transformation from a solitary, miserly and hard-hearted character to a generous, compassionate and benevolent one is the central driver of the narrative in A Christmas Carol.”
Here, key words like ‘miserly’ and ‘benevolent’ are seamlessly embedded with analysis of Dickens’ methods. This kind of writing reads much more naturally, and its concision makes it easier to revise from.
Exam Board and Specification Coverage
A key strength of Save My Exams is its exam board-specific approach. Resources are organised by qualification, subject, exam board and topic, so you won’t waste time revising unnecessary content. Notes are tailored to individual GCSE, IGCSE and A Level specifications.
Revise Right is also exam board and specification-aligned, but with limited coverage. For instance, its GCSE English Language notes only cover AQA, whereas Save My Exams’ cover AQA, Pearson Edexcel and WJEC Eduqas.
Practice Questions and Exam Technique
Save My Exams has various ways of improving exam technique, including exam-style questions, mocks and past papers. You can use available mark schemes and examiner reports, such as those for AQA GCSE History, to check your answers and avoid common mistakes. All students, whether they subscribe or not, have free access to the Learning Hub. You’ll find subject-specific guidance here, as well as tips on how to improve your exam technique.
Revise Right also provides past papers and mark schemes for the subjects it covers. Students can also register for free mocks and marking, such as those available in October half term 2026. The exam practice within the revision notes is useful for checking your understanding as you revise. Some lessons also cover exam technique, such as how to write an opening paragraph on unseen poetry.
Personalisation and Study Support
Save My Exams personalises your revision through tools such as Smart Mark, Strengths & Weaknesses, Target Test and Study Planner. Together, these features help you identify knowledge gaps, prioritise weaker topics, and build a more structured revision plan.
Revise Right has various personalisation and support tools. You can select your exam board and target grade for your courses, such as a Grade 7 in Pearson Edexcel GCSE Geography, and track your progress. You can also customise your AI tutor’s name and look, as well as your AI study tools. For instance, you could ask for a 10-question quiz on a certain topic, which you can then edit if needed.
Ease of Use and Student Experience
Save My Exams works well on smartphones, tablets and laptops alike. You can easily navigate between different levels, exam boards and subjects, which is ideal when you’re juggling revision for multiple GCSEs or A Levels. I tell my students to use the past paper library, as it labels everything more clearly than exam boards themselves!
Revise Right can also be used on multiple devices. The Studio, which is your workspace and dashboard, becomes easier to navigate with practice. Study tools are clearly separated into flashcards, quizzes, mind maps and notes.
The main issue I had with Revise Right was not knowing what some labels meant. Terms like ‘Official Vaults’ and ‘Projects’ weren’t defined, and I was told that my mind maps were saved to ‘My resources’, which turned out to be under ‘My Library’. This made initial navigation confusing, even though the tools themselves were easy to use.
I also encountered a problem with a Revise Right link. When I clicked on A Level Business from the subjects page, I was sent to a GCSE Business page instead. I could only find A Level Business content when I added the subject to my Studio.
