Overview

• Speaking Part 1 is the first section of the IELTS Speaking test

• It lasts about four to five minutes

• It begins with introductions and an ID check

• After that, the examiner asks you questions about familiar, everyday topics

• In this part, you need to show that you can:

  • give personal information

  • express opinions

  • talk about everyday life clearly

• Part 1 is also designed to help you settle into the test

• The questions are usually straightforward and not intended to be too difficult
