What to expect

• This paper covers the full specification — all content from topics 3.1 to 3.10 can be examined

• The paper's duration is two hours

• The total number of marks available is 100

• Paper 2 represents 33.3% of the qualification total

• It is made up of three sections, each based on a different business case study

• You must answer all questions in all three sections

Section 1

• Section 1 is worth approximately 32 marks and contains four part-questions

• All questions are based on an unseen business scenario with supporting data

• It usually consists of:

  • One 4-mark calculation question — students must show their working

  • One 3-mark explain question — a short developed point using the business context

  • One 9-mark analyse question — a chain of reasoning applied to the scenario

  • One 16-mark evaluate question — a balanced assessment with a supported judgement

Section 2

• Section 2 is worth approximately 34 marks and contains three part-questions

• All questions are based on a different unseen business scenario with supporting data

• It consists of:

  • Two 9-mark analyse questions

  • One 16-mark evaluate question

Section 3

• Section 3 has the same format as Section 2

• It is worth approximately 34 marks and contains three part-questions

• All questions are based on a third unseen business scenario with supporting data

• It consists of:

  • Two 9-mark analyse questions

  • One 16-mark evaluate question
