What to expect

  • Paper 3 is synoptic — it draws on the full specification and requires you to connect knowledge from across all topics

    • The paper's duration is two hours

    • The total number of marks available is 100

    • Paper 3 represents 33.3% of the qualification total

The insert

  • The insert is an unseen case study provided at the start of the exam

  • It introduces one business and its strategic situation

  • It includes supporting appendices — typically financial data, market data and operational performance data

  • You may refer to the Insert throughout the exam

The questions

  • The six questions increase in mark allocation and complexity

    • Two 12-mark analyse questions

    • Two 16-mark evaluate questions

    • One 20-mark evaluate question

    • One 24-mark extended evaluation question

  • All questions must be answered using evidence from the case study

  • The final question additionally rewards wider business knowledge beyond the case study
