Polish meals are different from English meals:
Breakfast is often simple, e.g. bread with cheese, ham or jam, and tea with lemon or coffee, yoghurt with fruits, breakfast cereal, oat flakes
Lunch is traditionally the main meal of the day and is often eaten in the afternoon when children return from school
Many students eat sandwiches with ham and cheese and lettuce (kanapka z szynką, serem i sałatą) at school during the day
Dinner (kolacja ) is often lighter than lunch, e.g. bread with cold foods such as cheese or meat
Dumplings (pierogi) are a popular and traditional dish in Poland. There are several types: with meat, cabbage and mushrooms, with potatoes and cheese called "Russian", and sweet ones with strawberries, berries, white cheese etc.
